X-56A technology demonstrator achieves first flight

Lockheed Martin Skunk Works’ X-56A Multi-Utility Technology Testbed (MUTT) has made its first flight on Jul. 26 at Edwards AFB.

The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and NASA plan to use the unmanned aircraft to explore active aeroelastic control technologies such as active flutter suppression and gust load alleviation.
