The U.S. Air Force is rewiring the B-52 internal weapons bay into a Common Rotary Launcher under the 1760 Internal Weapons Bay Upgrade program.
The first weapon to benefit will be JDAM, eight more can be carried in the bomb bay in addition to the 12 currently carried on exterior weapons pylons. Instead of three aircraft carrying 36 weapons, now two B-52s can carry 40 JDAMs.
Other weapons planned for inclusion are: JASSM-ER and the MALD-J.
