Japan to resume flying P-1 maritime patrol aircraft

Japan has isolated the problem which grounded its P-1 maritime patrol aircraft and will implement fixes before resuming flying this month.

All four engines on a P-1 briefly flame-out during a test flight over the Pacific Ocean May 13.

The JMSDF and IHI Corp found that an irregularity in the fuel injection valves prevented a sufficient supply of fuel. Programs have been rewritten to prevent a future occurrence.
