NRL creates hydrocarbon fuel from seawater

It is now possible to get hydrocarbon fuel by converting seawater thanks to research done by U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) scientists.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2) were coxed out of seawater using a proprietary electrolytic cation exchange module, the gases are then converted to liquid hydrocarbons by a metal catalyst in a reactor system.
