USS Carl Vinson will carry eight EA-18G Growlers, three more than usual, to test if having more electronic jamming aircraft can give better support to other aircraft.
Vice Adm. Paul Grosklags told a Senate Armed Services subcommittee this month that a study last year concluded that having more Growlers would be effective. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group will test the theory next month.
