Cost of upgrading F-35 reduced by $920 million

The Pentagon projected that it will only have to spend $1.65 billion instead of $2.57 billion to upgrade and fix problems found on early production batches of the F-35.

  1. Now, I may just be a simple minded person, but when you purchase a jet at around $85 MILLION, why do you have to spend $1.65 BILLION to fix a problem with it?
