H/T to Mil Aerospace Electronics. The U.S. Air Force has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to determine the feasibility of developing a next generation airborne long range offensive IRST that is a staring system.
A staring sensor will yield higher performance in a more compact, lighter weight design with greater installation flexibility.
