Indian government wants private sector to build another military aircraft production facility

The Indian government has approached private sector companies such as Tata Group, Mahindra & Mahindra and Larsen and Toubro to encourage them to set up a military aircraft manufacturing facility.

The move was triggered by demands from the Indian Air Force which complain the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), having a monopoly on military aircraft production, of delays in delivery of aircraft.
