Air India A320 nearly collided with UAV over Leh

A flight from New Delhi to Leh avoided disaster as the A320 narrowly avoided a UAV over the airport.

The Air India A320 was making a go around after it failed to get clearance to land at the airport. The crew had lost radio communications with the IAF-manned control tower. In such scenario, the tower would fire off a green flare to indicate the aircraft on final is cleared to land.

However, the pilots on board AI 3449 did not see a green flare and initiated a go around, during the process they notice a UAV was also in their flight path. Both planes missed each other by 100 feet.
