F/A-18E pilot buzzed UC Berkeley to say ‘hi’ to brother, Navy to investigate

A F/A-18E pilot from VFA-137 decided to buzz UC Berkeley on Jan. 27 as a “personal air show” to his brother whose studying at the campus.



The flyover created a commotion as car alarms were triggered and many local residents were disturbed by the noise.

A U.S. Navy spokeswoman said the jet was from NAS Lemoore and was under FAA “control throughout the training flight.”

Lt. Reagan B. Lauritzen added that the Navy “is investigating the flight to ensure the aviator complied with all FAA and U.S. Navy regulations.”
