Auto GCAS saves USAF F-16 from crashing in Syria

The Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (Auto GCAS) has prevented a U.S. Air Force F-16 from colliding with terrain while it was on a combat mission over Syria.

The Air Force has not been forthcoming with details but acknowledge that the aircraft and pilot were saved by the system, currently being installed on Block 40/50 aircraft by Luke AFB.
