Indonesian Air Force wants government to take back control of FIR from Singapore

The Indonesian Air Force wants the government to take back the Flight Information Region (FIR) over the Riau and Natuna islands from Singapore.

Since 1946, the airspace encompassing Batam, Natuna until Dumai in Riau has been under Singapore’s control.

Air Force chief of staff Air Chief Marshal Agus Supriatna said: “It is time for the Air Force to back supremacy in Indonesian airspace.”

Agus said the move is legal under existing international laws.
