IRIS-T SL test firings concluded

IRIS-T Surface Launched (IRIS-T SL) missile has completed its last test firing at the Overberg Test Range in South Africa in January.

Three tests were carried out, with increasing difficulty. The first test was to evaluate its medium range capability by engaging the target at more than 30km. During the second firing, the entire engagement lasted less than 10 seconds, ending with a direct hit.

The final test was the most challenging as the IRIS-T SL had to engage a small, fast and agile target drone that was diving and pulling up aggressively to evade destruction.
