Taiwan’s Apache scandal widens, Defense Minister apologizes

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense today announced another list of officers being punished in the AH-64E scandal.


Latest investigations by the military revealed that 601 Brigade Commander Maj. Gen. Chien Tsung-yuan had also brought civilians into the camp illegally.

Lt. Col. Lao Nai-cheng, the man who started off the whole incident, was also found to have brought family members into Longtan base in February. Today, he was given another serious demerit and transferred from his post.

During the weekly press conference at the Ministry of National Defense, Defense Minister Kao Kuang-chi made a rare appearance and apologized to the public.
