USN operating flights out of Malaysia to search for boat refugees

The U.S. Navy has been operating flights out of Subang, Malaysia to search for boat refugees from Bangladesh and Myanmar on the northern end of the Malacca Strait.

The U.S. government had approached Thailand to get approval to stage those flights out of the kingdom but has yet to receive an answer.
