U.S. Army installs command post inside C-17 to better support paratroopers

In the near future, U.S. Army paratroopers can get video feeds to assess the threats on the ground in their drop zone thanks to an innovative project by the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Increment 1 office.

It wasn’t easy setting up the command post, officially known as the Enroute Mission Command Capability, inside a C-17. Engineers had to pack all the network communications equipment and laptops inside the cargo hold whilst leaving ample space to prepare for a jump. It also had to be rugged enough to withstand the vibrations inside the aircraft.
