IFF Mode 5 installed on USAF E-3

The first set of AN/UPX-40 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system for the E-3 has been installed at Hanscom Air Force Base.

The AN/UPX-40 supports the new Mode 5 interrogation and eight more sets are to be installed by year end. All together, 31 sets will be installed.
