Japan tested its improved Type 3 Chū-SAM Kai air defense system at White Sands Missile Range during the summer of 2015.

The missiles hit their targets 10 out of 10 and one of the target was a supersonic GQM-163A Coyote.
It was also the first time the GQM-163A had been test-fired at White Sands Missile Range.
