“This decision has been signed of by the Prime Minister this week.”

Turkey announced two-years ago that it had the HQ-9 from China as the winning bid, rejecting offers from Europe and United States. Since then, Ankara had came under pressure from NATO to reject the Chinese offer.

The same official said Turkey will now launch its own project to build such a defense system.
