Safran will not partner with HAL to make M88 engine parts

Safran has rolled back plans to have M88 engine parts manufactured in India, according to Safran’s India Chief Executive Officer Stephane Lauret.

The move is due to India’s decision to buy just 36 Rafale fighters. Previously, Safran wanted to have Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) produce the fighter engine parts at a 30,000-square-meter facility as India was planning to buy 126 Rafales.
