U.N. helicopters launch strikes against Congo rebels

U.N. attack helicopters assigned to the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) carried out strikes against Ugandan rebels near the northeastern border of Democratic Republic of Congo after military bases around the town of Eringeti came under attacks on Nov. 27.

Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) positions were hit by missiles and rockets fired by the gunships during the attack and MONUSCO’s interim commander said he believed the rebels had suffered losses.
