U.S. Army wants open-architecture controller to protect its aircraft and tanks

The U.S. Army wants an open-architecture controller that can protect airborne, ground and maritime platforms from incoming threats. It found a solution from Lockheed Martin and the aerospace giant was given two contracts for continued development of the controller for the U.S. Army’s Modular Active Protection System (MAPS) program.

The box will churn the data from multiple sensors and activate the appropriate self-defense system to protect the vehicle.
