NATO prepares to deploy E-3s to Turkey

NATO is getting ready to deploy some of its E-3 AEW&C aircraft to Turkey, a memo from Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense to the Bundestag has revealed.

The German lower house of parliament is being informed as one-third of the AWACS crew comes from Germany. However, permission from lawmakers for the deployment is not required as NATO does not classify it as a combat mission.
