Since 2011, U.S. MQ-9s have been operating out of an airport in Arba Minch, Ethiopia. A U.S. Embassy spokesman told The Associated Press by email that Washington has shut down the drone operations in the country.

France launched an air strike to take out a ISIL missile factory east of Aleppo on Dec. 3. Rafales armed with SCALP EG cruise missiles were used for the mission.
HSC-84, based in Norfolk, will be inactivated in March, the U.S. Navy has decided. The unit is one of two helicopter squadrons in the sailing branch that are dedicated to Special Operations support as a primary role.
