Russia’s air defense posture threatens NATO’s access to air space in parts of Europe

In an interview with New York Times, Gen. Frank Gorenc, warned that Russia’s buildup of its air defense systems is increasingly threatening NATO’s access to certain air space in parts of Europe during a conflict.

The commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe said Moscow had concentrated a huge amount of surface-to-air missiles in Kaliningrad and those units has enough reach to shot down NATO fighters flying in parts of Poland and the Baltics.
