Defense News postulate that the increasingly closer military cooperation between Finland and Sweden will give the Gripen E and advantage in Finland’s HX Fighter Program.

The Northern Europe state is expected to call for tender to replace its F/A-18C/Ds in the spring of 2018. Defense News added that there is a possibility Finland may select two fighter types for the competition with one being the Gripen.
