The sixteen and final Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy, HMS St Alban, has joined the Charles de Gaulle task force in the Gulf.

Previously the French Navy battle group was protected by HMS Defender, the destroyer has since been diverted to join the Harry S Truman Carrier Strike Group.
The frigate’s duty will be anti-submarine and surface protection for battle group.
