Singapore delays the launch of its aerostat

The Republic of Singapore Air Force has delayed the launch of its aerostat as the manufacturer TCOM was not able to service’s safety and operational requirements.

A Ministry of Defense spokesman said the aerostat “is still undergoing rigorous testing by the manufacturer to ensure it meets the RSAF’s stringent operational requirements and high safety standards.”

The plan to have the aerostat for 24-hours radar coverage at 2,000ft was announced in October 2014. The system was supposed to be operational last year.
