USN to issue draft RFP for RAQ-25 this year

The U.S. Navy will finally release the draft Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Carrier Based Aerial Refueling System (CBARS) program this year, that will be followed by a final RFP in fiscal 2017.

According to USNI, the effort is split into three components – control system, connectivity to the aircraft and the airframe itself. NAVAIR will be the lead integrator for the control and connectivity segments.

The RAQ-25 designation from the Unmanned Carrier Launched Airborne Surveillance and Strike (UCLASS) program will be retained.
