USAF investigating incident whereby retired sergeant was forcibly removed from ceremony

The U.S. Air Force Reserve has launched an investigation into a incident that happened during the retirement ceremony for a master sergeant from the 749th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Travis Air Force Base on Apr. 3.

A 50-second video, which was first posted on JQPublicBlog.com, showed retired Senior Master Sgt. Oscar Rodriguez being forcibly removed by three uniformed airmen.

A person who identified himself as the officiating officer at the ceremony later said Rodriguez was invited by the honoree to attend the ceremony and Rodriguez had planned to read a statement honoring the flag. He had clearance from the upper chain of command to do so.

A spokesman from Travis Air Force Base told Fox News that Rodriguez was removed after he “ignored numerous requests to respect the Air Force prescribed ceremony.”
