An anonymous U.S. defense official said China has deployed 16 indigenous J-11BH fighters from the People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force (PLANAF) to Woody Island.
Although the type of aircraft had appeared on the island before, this time round the deployment of double-digit number of aircraft was unprecedented.
The same official added that the fighters arrived at the Paracel archipelago on Apr. 7.
