Senators want Obama to approve sale of fighter to Gulf States

A bipartisan group of U.S. senators have written a joint letter to President Obama asking him to expedite the sale of fighters to Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

The massive contracts have been delayed for more than two years as the U.S. government is required by law not to sell any military equipment to the Middle East that might undermine Israel’s military advantage.

“We understand that these requests must be carefully considered, but a decision on them has been pending too long,” the senators wrote in the letter.

They warned that delaying the deals could result in the Gulf States looking elsewhere to shop for new fighters.
