Defective engine behind RoKAF F-16D crash

A South Korean KF-16D crashed on Mar. 30 during an exercise and it has now been determined that a defective component on the engine was the cause.

It was discovered that the engine casing came apart while in flight. The defect was traced back to the time it was manufactured. A hot tear had formed during the manufacturing process and the crack propagated over time.
