Lockheed Martin union to go for strike vote

Around 2,600 Lockheed Martin workers at its Fort Worth facility will soon decide whether give leaders of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 776 the authority to call a strike as the current contract between the aerospace giant and the union expires next month.

Such a vote is expected to put pressure on Lockheed to come up with an offer that is favorable to the workers.

Back in 2012, the union authorized a strike that left the plant paralyzed for ten weeks. Eventually, the company gave workers a 11 percent pay increment.
