Russia successfully test-fired BMD interceptor in Kazakhstan

The Russian Aerospace Force successfully carried out a test-firing of the A-135 anti-ballistic missile interceptor from Sary-Shagan missile testing site in Kazakhstan at 07:00 hours Moscow Standard Time on Jun. 21.


A Russian Ministry of Defense statement said the test was “to verify performance characteristics of ABMs operated by the Air Force.”

The A-135 system dates back to the 1970s and Russia has been carrying out periodic tests in Kazakhstan.
