Yomiuri Shimbun disclosed that the new missile will have three times the range of Japan’s current Type 12 anti-ship missile, which is 100 km.

If deployed on Isikagi island, the missile can reach parts of Taiwan. More importantly, the new weapon will allow Japan to defend the disputed Senkaku Islands.
