  1. Japan increasing its military budget to match China’s cannot be anything but good news for the rest of Asia. It is terrifying that only China has the big guns in the region because from its rhetoric and actions, it does not know how to handle itself as top dog. Today, it cannot even manage to match its actions with its words. This is sad–and terrifying. After all, how can any country reason with another country that has apparently gone crazy? But at the same time, this situation can be good for Japan and Asia. Japanese technology is second to none. Consequently, with a bigger defense budget, Japan can come up with military technologies that can eclipse those of a country that is going bonkers.
