F-35A from Luke AFB caught fire while deployed at Mountain Home AFB

A F-35A from the 61st Fighter Squadron suffered an aft section fire while the aircraft was at Mountain Home Air Force Base for a deployment.

A spokesman from the U.S. Air Force told Defense News that “the fire was extinguished quickly. As a precautionary measure, four 61st Aircraft Maintenance Unit Airmen, three Airmen from the 366th Maintenance Group and the 61st Fighter Squadron pilot were transported to the base medical center for standard evaluation.”

Seven F-35As traveled from Luke Air Force Base to Mountain Home from Sept. 10 and were suppose to depart today.

This deployment is unique as airmen from the Royal Australian Air Force are participating.
