SM-6 shatters its intercept record again

The SM-6 air defense missile interceptor has set a new distance record for an intercept during testing at the Point Mugu Test Range on Sept. 22.

The missile was fired from USS Princeton using data from a remote airborne sensor, the U.S. Navy said on Sept. 29. The previous long-distance intercept record was held by USS John Paul Jones in January.
