Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense has punished more than 40 of its officers after a spate of crashes involving military and civilian aircraft.

Spokesman Maj. Gen. Nguyen Minh Hoang said the actions are necessary as “flight safety checks are still conducted in simple and untimely ways” after those accidents.
