USN looks at buying “several squadrons worth of Super Hornets”

The U.S. Navy is facing a potential shortfall of around 70 carrier-borne fighters in the upcoming years and officials are looking at buying “several squadrons worth of Super Hornets,” Reuters reports.

Legacy Hornets retired from Navy service are expected to be transferred to the Marine Corps.

The plan to regenerate Navy carrier air power could be implemented in the fiscal 2018 budget.
