USAF has just issued RFP to replace JSTARS

The U.S. Air Force has published a request for proposals (RFP) on Dec. 28 to replace its E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS).

The service has also budget $6.9 billion for development and production of the new aircraft. Interested parties must not offer used, reconditioned or remanufactured aircraft as well.

The radar system for the new platform will be a separate race that Northrop Grumman Mission Systems and Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems are now competing in.
