Taiwan has successfully tested the ship-based variant of its Tien Kung III ballistic missile defense interceptor in the final weeks of 2016.

The testing was carried out at Pingtung county and the test was aborted a few times due to weather and the presence of both American and Chinese reconnaissance aircraft in the vicinity.
