India’s next fighter competition will be open to single-engine aircraft only

India’s Defense minister Manohar Parrika has made it very clear that the country’s next fighter competition is for a single-engine aircraft.

This effectively rules out Western fighters such as the Eurofighter, Rafale and Super Hornet.

On a side note, Parrika has indicated that the Naval LCA will just be a technology demonstrator. The Indian Navy’s desire is for a twin-engine carrier-borne fighter.
