Taiwan keen to develop its own stealth fighter

Taiwan’s Minister of National Defense Feng Shih-kuan said on Jan. 24 the government’s next defense priority after getting the advanced jet trainer is to develop an indigenous stealth fighter.

Local media quoted military sources as saying that the new fighter will rely on the TFE-1042-70 afterburning turbofan as its power plant.

Feng added that the Air Force’s new aerospace research center will play an important role in the development of the fighter.
