CBC News has learned that the Canadian government has started talks with Washington to buy 18 Super Hornets and the Liberal government wants the first aircraft to arrive in 2019.

CBC News also obtained data being circulating within the Department of National Defense, suggesting that the purchase will costs between $5 billion and $7 billion over the lifetime of the aircraft.
Military officials were also in St. Louis two weeks ago to visit the Boeing production line, examining how they can customize their aircraft.
