The U.S. Navy has successfully tested its Spike – not to be confused with the Rafael version – missile on an unmanned aerial vehicle.

The test, carried out at China Lake in December 2016, proved that the Spike is capable of defeating UAVs with slight modifications.

The missile launcher is first queued to the target via radar so that the operator can acquire the UAV and engage it. The other modification involves the addition of a proximity fuze to the body.
