L-39 pilot who buzzed De Beque Canyon gets sued

A L-39 pilot who flew his plane at 100 ft above ground and hitting power lines at De Beque Canyon has been sued by a man who said the incident on May 28, 2015 caused his to lose dexterity in both hands.

Stephen Centofanti told the court that he injured himself while “gripping the steering wheel in a panic fearing for his life and the lives of his passengers” as the jet came at him at a high speed.

The jet hit an unmarked power line and the collision damaged its nosecone, right aileron and wingtip tank.

Several cars, including Centofanti’s, were hit by the falling cable.
