The Pentagon has confirmed that it will retire the MQ-1 fleet early next year. Its role will be taken over by the MQ-9.

One of the squadrons being converted is the 20th Attack Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. The unit will stop flying the MQ-1 by Jul. 1 this year.
