Taiwan plans to develop new fighter within 10 years

The president of National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) told Taiwanese lawmakers that his researchers is ready to work on a new turbofan engine that will power a new fighter aircraft.

Chang Guan-chung said once the budget is approved next year, a prototype aircraft will be ready within 10 years.

The new engine is to be based on the Honeywell/ITEC TFE-1042-70.
